Regional Excellence (USA) or a Global Category? A Decision Guide for MYRONYX Applicants
MYRONYX Global Awards is unusual among international programs in offering both broad international categories and a dedicated Regional Excellence (USA) route alongside Client Experience Excellence, Technology & Innovation, Business & Leadership Excellence, Disruptive Innovation, Health & Wellness, the Golden Award for Innovation, Diversity & Inclusion Excellence and Sustainability & Impact. For a candidate whose work is concentrated in one market, that creates a real strategic choice — and choosing badly costs points before a juror has formed any view of the work itself.

The same achievement genuinely scores differently depending on the category it enters, because the category determines which questions a juror asks.

What a regional entry has to prove
A regional category rewards depth in a defined market. The implicit question is not “does this scale worldwide” but “is this materially significant where it happened”. Strong regional evidence is therefore local and specific: market share or ranking within the relevant state or metro area, named domestic clients or institutions, licences and regulatory approvals in that jurisdiction, employment created, local media and trade recognition, participation in state or national industry bodies, and results benchmarked against domestic sector norms rather than global averages.

Regional framing also allows a candidate to be honest about scale. A result that is significant in one market and untested elsewhere is a strong regional entry and a weak global one. Presenting it regionally is not a downgrade; it is accurate positioning.

What a global category demands
Global categories put weight on transferability. Under the MYRONYX matrix, Scalability carries 12% and Development Potential 10%, and Industry Impact at 20% is read against a wider field. A global entry is therefore expected to show that the result is not an artefact of one favourable local condition: adoption across more than one country or market, cross-border partnerships, exports or international users, a method or product others have replicated, standards or publications with international reach, or independent recognition from outside the home market.

A three-question test
Where is the evidence dense? Map your five strongest documents. If four of them are domestic — state filings, US client contracts, national trade press — your evidence base is regional, whatever your ambitions are.

Who can verify it, and from where? Independent confirmation from outside your home market is the material that carries a global entry. If every verifier is in one country, a juror in a global category will read the work as local.

Which criteria does the work actually feed? Write your top three results, then note the criterion each one serves. If they cluster on Industry Impact and Client Experience with nothing to say about scalability or development potential, a regional or client-focused category will present them better.

The same facts, framed two ways
Regional framing. “Between 2022 and 2024 the clinic network expanded from 4 to 17 sites across three states, becoming the largest independent provider in its segment in the state by licensed capacity (state health department register, 2024), reducing average patient wait time from 11 days to 3.”

Global framing. “The operating model developed for the network — a standardised triage protocol and staffing ratio — has since been licensed to operators in two additional countries, with the protocol published in a peer-reviewed journal and adopted by an international professional association’s guidance.”

Both are true statements about one organisation. The first belongs in a regional category; the second earns a place in a global one. If you can only write the first, submit the first.

Two mistakes worth avoiding
The first is entering a global category because the name sounds more impressive, then filling it with domestic evidence. Jurors do not adjust for ambition; they score what is demonstrated against the field in front of them.

The second is spreading one body of work thinly across several categories. Each entry is assessed on its own coherence, and three diluted submissions routinely score below one submission built properly. Choose the category where your strongest documented result is central rather than peripheral, and put the whole evidence file behind it.

Before you commit
Category lists and cycle parameters change. Confirm the active categories, scope descriptions, deadlines and documentation requirements on myronyxglobal.com, then write down the three facts that prove your alignment with the chosen category. If those three facts feel thin on paper, that is the signal to change category — not to change the wording.
